I hope that NAWO, WRC and the rest of the women's sector can work together to ensure that this happens, and that capacity is created (and funded) in order to allow effective engagement with women's organisations at all levels.

RebeccaRebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05337339500600824945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1053801298181127149.post-42909471913225388192011-05-17T12:49:20.007+01:002011-05-17T12:49:20.007+01:00NAWO is most concerned to ensure we in the women&#...NAWO is most concerned to ensure we in the women's sector create a way for us to talk to each other about issues of concern that need the attention of government. It needs some form of consortium, a way of co-ordinating women's voices - perhaps a 'hub' - and some financial support to provide such a function. There is a question on the consultation where we can suggest/ask for this - the word 'consortium' is used. We think it needs to be able to bring together different strands - by issues; by geography; by governance issues for example; by the UK as a whole or nations within the UK; by European matters and beyond - international concerns. This came out clearly at the meeting. It would need the capacity to connect with women's organisations at all levels. What do you think?
Annette LawsonAnnettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04319160495484857515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1053801298181127149.post-64014171698873991282011-04-14T20:18:22.470+01:002011-04-14T20:18:22.470+01:00great blog goes straight to my reading list. :)great blog goes straight to my reading list. :)Manipal Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06924652868535736737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1053801298181127149.post-85228828909168647542010-03-01T12:15:17.210+00:002010-03-01T12:15:17.210+00:00Great to hear about the event, I'm sorry to ha...Great to hear about the event, I'm sorry to have missed it, and look forward to hearing more about what went on. Seems to me Personalisation has got lots of potential to be great for individuals and for small community groups, but like anything I'm sure the devil is in the detail, and particularly how it's put into practice.isabellivingstonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17985159036213242428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1053801298181127149.post-47588013414387404792009-11-06T19:49:37.703+00:002009-11-06T19:49:37.703+00:00Speaking of UNIFEM, today they are launching Say N...Speaking of UNIFEM, today they are launching Say NO – UNiTE to End Violence Against Women, an online campaign giving people around the world a chance to speak out against violence against women.

Here are some links to check out:

~Photos and accounts of Say NO launch events in Kenya with women working against violence: http://bit.ly/KENYA

~Embeddable videos about the campaign: “No Is No In Any Language”: http://bit.ly/YT-NIN & “Say NO Welcome Message”: http://bit.ly/YT-SNWM

~Embeddable graphics: http://bit.ly/SN-KIT

~Instructions and ideas on how to take action through Say NO, either through joining actions or starting your own: http://bit.ly/SN-START

~Add your name to the main petition to help meet it the $50,000 Omega Challenge Grant – watch company Omega announced a challenge grant of US $50,000 for the first 50,000 actions to go to organizations working on the ground to end violence against women and girls: http://bit.ly/SN-HOMEHughhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08189452502507566570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1053801298181127149.post-21324067304493401482009-08-18T09:53:51.858+01:002009-08-18T09:53:51.858+01:00Thanks Margaret.
